How is a Scenic KiDz™ poster created?
Q. How is a Scenic KiDz poster created? A. Although it's not rocket science, there's still a certain level of skill that goes into completing a Scenic KiDz™ poster. For example, all of the art for each Scenic KiDz™ poster is originally drawn by hand, then scanned into the computer, and then painted. Within each poster lies roughly 80 hours of work just to complete the actual scene, not including faces. Customizing each poster for each new customer is also painstaking work. Each face is sketched and caricatured by hand by our artist and creator until the likeness is dead-on to that of the subject. From there, that sketch is scanned into the computer and the face is redrawn and then painted, all via the computer. All-in-all, to customize each existing poster for each customer takes roughly 12-15 hours to complete - from sketching the rough art to finalizing the face, and all of the other customizations. When the poster art is complete, it's sent to the printing house for the poster to be printed. Then, it's sent to the framing house to be beautifully framed (if you choose to have your poster framed by Colorplak™, which we recommend).
Q. How quickly will my poster get done? A. Our average turnaround time is 1 - 2 weeks. We will let you know if we think it may be longer than that.
Q. How fast can a 'Rush Job' be done? A. The fastest we can get a "rush job" done in is 4 days; 2 days for all of the customization on our end; one day at the printers, and one day to FedEx it to you. If you need a job done immediately, Send us an email for 'Rush' rates.
Q. How many pictures do you need to have of my child? A. We usually like to have a least 3-4 of your most recent pictures. We ask for this many because we occasionally need to work from more than one photo to finish your child's face. We also prefer that they be large pictures so we can see the detail in your child's face. The better the pictures we have to work from, the better and more accurate the final art will be. Q. Can you put my son in my favorite team's uniform for our poster? A. Absolutely! That's the beauty of Scenic KiDz! We can put your son in any team's colors you like; we just can't use their crest or name due to trademark and copyright infringement. When you've placed your order, we will either contact you by phone or by email for all of the customizations for your child's poster.
Q. In order to purchase any of the other items like the shirt or the clock, do I have to purchase the poster? A. When you purchase a Scenic KiDz™ poster, what you're really paying for is for us to create the original art of your child, not the actual poster. The price is based on the amount of time it takes us to create and customize the scene for your child (roughly 12-15 hours). Wanting to buy just some merchandise, but not the poster still requires us to create the original art. Since all of the products are based on the original art that gets created with your child's face, without that, there are no products.
Q. How much does a Scenic KiDz™ poster cost? A. We currently have 4 different packages to choose from. You'll find prices in there.
Q. How do your prices compare to other people doing the same type of thing? A. That's an impossible question to answer because there's nothing out there in the market like Scenic KiDz™. The amount of work that has gone into creating each of the scenes is well over 80 hours. You won't find too many artists willing to invest that kind of time into anything without knowing whether they'd make money or not. So, why did WE do it? Because WE believe there was a void in the market for this very thing! The truth is, if you're looking for just a simple caricature of your child, we're probably not what you're looking for. However, if you're looking for a stunning piece of art that you can hang on your wall and treasure for the rest of your life, then Scenic KiDz™ is for you! Elaborate, hi-quality caricatures for kids with artwork that would rival anything you'd see in a Disney poster!
Q. What if I want more than one scene with my child in it? How much will the second one cost me? A. Check out our packages. PACKAGE 4 features your child in two different scenes.
Q. I have a newborn and would like to have one done of her. Is she too young? A. Although we could do it, we'd recommend waiting until your daughter is at least 6 months old.
Q. Can I have two kids in one scene/poster? A. Possibly. Some of the posters could be designed to have two kids in it, but the majority of them are created to feature just one child at a time. Send us an email as to which scene you're interested in and we'll let you know whether it can be done or not.
Q. What if I'm not satisfied? A. We want every customer to be 100% satisfied with our work, so if you're not satisfied with the job we do, we will work with you to rectify anything that you are unhappy with. If, in the end, you are still not happy with the final result, we will refund your money. We realize that a lot of business comes our way because of referrals from happy customers. If our customers aren't happy, they won't refer anyone to us... and we won't get any business.
Q. How many scenes are you planning to do? A. Eventually, we'd like to have over 100 different scenes to choose from. Of course, that will take time because each scene takes roughly 80 hours to complete the art, not including customizing it for each customer. Q. What is the ideal age of a child for a Scenic KiDz™ poster? A. We feel the ideal age is anywhere between 9 months and 14 years. If you're looking for something for someone older, we could still probably help you out. Send us an email and let us know what you're looking for.
Q. Can I get any other items printed with the finished art on it? A. Yes, you can. We have the ability to print your finished art on t-shirts, mousepads, clocks, mugs, etc. Click here to see a list of other items.
Q. I want a specific scene that you currently don't have. Can this be done for me? A. Yes, we can do anything you want. Of course, there's a price for having us create a custom scene for you. If it's something we think others will be interested in, there may not be an extra charge.
